WRESTLEMANIA XXX

Well here we go. The day that every WWE fan across the World waits for every year has arrived. WRESTLEMANIA Sunday! And this year for many fans the stakes are that much higher as Daniel Bryan has somehow found himself in position to leave with the WWE World Heavyweight Title with 75,000+ chanting YES! YES! YES! For 2 agonizing years fans have waited for Daniel Bryan to get the opportunity he deserves and despite it seeming impossible at times, by this time tomorrow either way the wait is gonna end. I really hope they didn’t do all this just to screw him out of his moment again but it wouldn’t surprise me, just be extremely disappointing. But we’ll save the doom n gloom for if it actually happens, gonna focus energy on cheering for Daniel Bryan and watching what should be an awesome WrestleMania.

 

DANIEL BRYAN VS HHH – WINNER GETS IN THE MAIN EVENT

Daniel Bryan can’t go back and win the Royal Rumble unfortunately but this could just about make up for it. Love him or hate him, HHH is a legend and 1 of the all time greats so a victory over him is a big deal, especially for Daniel Bryan with everything that has happened. John Cena, 1 of the biggest stars WWE has produced was solidified in his position by tapping out HHH and HBK in consecutive WrestleManias. He got what I like to call ‘the Big Push.’ Beating HHH, Batista, and Randy Orton in the same night would be a huge step in trying to “make” Daniel Bryan. With all the legends in attendance they could really do something special with a Daniel Bryan celebration but first he has to make it out of the Game with enough left to win the title. I have ridiculously high expectations for this match, with the crowd heat it should have and the finish in doubt I’m thinking Savage/Steamboat type match. It’s funny that Daniel Bryan could give HHH the thing that has eluded him his entire career, that 1 great match that is talked about with the likes of HBK/Taker, Savage/Steamboat, etc… HHH has had great matches but is always left out of the convo when “The greatest” matches in wrestling are talked about. I hope it goes on first so they get the crowd in an absolute frenzy and can live up to the high expectations. They have done a fantastic job of creating doubt about DB winning but I just have to believe they will do the right thing.

ANDRE THE GIANT MEMORIAL BATTLE ROYAL

Really excited about this, Battle Royals can be hit and miss but I think this 1 has a lot of potential with the participants and the prestige of the trophy. Very intrigued to see how this match goes and who the surprise entrants are, hopefully some legends. I’m thinking once it gets down to about 10 guys left the match is really going to pick up. They could definitely just phone it in but for some reason I think they are going to make this really good with a finishing sequence that will have people talking. As for the winner, there are so many ways it could go. I’d love to see Big Show win due to him being a Giant and always kind of compared to Andre, would be a great moment for his great career. But on the other hand this would be a good opportunity to help elevate a talent like Big E, Rusev, Cody Rhodes, Brodus by winning it so I’m torn. My original pick would have been Cesaro but he isn’t in it so I really have no clue, just gonna sit back and enjoy it.

THE SHIELD VS THE BIG RED OUTLAWS

Can’t lie, I was really hoping that this match would be The Shield vs Kane, Harper & Rowan. Shield vs Wyatts matches have been awesome and Kane isn’t much of a step down from Bray, they would have torn the house down. Word on the internet machine is that the Outlaws specifically requested this spot so they can work with the Shield before they move on. I’ve been a NAO fan since day 1 of their tag team so this doesn’t really bother me as they deserve this but they gotta bring everything they got left in the tank. Might not be true but if it is they have to step up and be at least as good as the other match would have been. I think they will, these guys are veterans and legends for a reason and the best always show up on the WrestleMania stage. Thinking the Outlaws will prove a lot of people wrong tonight. And we better enjoy it, with all the Shield breakup rumours this might be the last big moment for both teams.

JOHN CENA VS BRAY WYATT

Really intriguing match here. On one hand both guys should be winning at a big event like WrestleMania XXX so you would think to keep them away from each other but that’s also what makes this matchup so enticing, either guy could win it. Shouldn’t be any lack of drama in the match but I really have no clue what they are going to do. Enjoyed the feud so far with Wyatt almost throwing Cena off his game until Cena showed up ready to beat Bray at *his* own game. But it’s dangerous playing somebody else’s game b/c you are in their world and things can spiral out of control very quickly. Will be interesting to see if Cena really has mastered the mind games Bray plays or if his false sense of bravado last Monday motivated Bray to take things to a place Cena does not want to go. Big test for Bray to see if he can deliver on a big stage without a guy like Daniel Bryan to work with. Lots of potential for this feud and match, hoping this is just the start.

THE UNDERTAKER VS BROCK LESNAR

Can’t wait for this one. Probably a few years too late for it to have had the massive impact it could have but it’s still gonna be awesome. The build for me was extremely lackluster and lazy. There is so much history between these 2 guys to craft a fantastic storyline that could have had this match as a major selling point to the show. Should have pulled out all the stops to get some mainstream buzz for Taker/Lesnar like there was after their brief UFC “confrontation.” Even people that think wrestling is stupid and fake can’t say anything about Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker. It’s a match that people normally embarrassed by watching wrestling wouldn’t be afraid to talk about. But it feels like it has gotten lost in the shuffle due to basically no effort going into this storyline. Heyman blabbing can sell some storylines but not this one, we wanna see the bulls. I wanted to see these guys in big brawls, kept apart by massive amounts of security, blur the lines between real and fake as much as you can. With the success of the Network being so important, I was really surprised they didn’t use this feud/match as a bigger sell. Like I say the match will be amazing but it’s just a shame they didn’t go all out and wasted the potential this feud had.

13 DIVA VICKIE GUERERRO INVITATIONAL

100% filler but I hope they put some effort into laying out the match. Big chance it turns into a big mess but if they buckle down and really think, they could do some cool stuff with all those Divas. AJ retaining would be big for her and I wouldn’t mind seeing it but kind of want to see Brie win it to go along with Daniel Bryan’s title win. Happy to see Emma make her WrestleMania debut, would be huge if she won. I really don’t have an issue with any Diva winning, could do some interesting stuff with all of em. Summer Rae might be a good choice too.

TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP FATAL 4 WAY

Extremely disappointed this was moved to the pre-show. All teams but esp the Usos deserve to get their WrestleMania match. They have worked so hard and improved so much that they deserve a match on the show. And I’m really surprised they are going to leave Cesaro off the main show, he could be a big star for them and has really shown momentum lately. Gonna be an awesome match.

WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP – RANDY ORTON VS BATISTA VS DANIEL BRYAN or HHH

Hopefully this match ends up Orton vs Batista vs DB, I think it will as I’m more worried about DB losing this match than I am vs HHH. Not that he couldn’t lose both but seems more likely if they’re going to have him lose it will be the main event so the fans don’t hijack the show. It’s not like if DB wins here he has to hold the title for a year, this is about giving him a moment that builds him into a legitimate, bankable star. If he culminates this 2 year slow burn with WrestleMania going off the air with him as Champion then that’s it. The first part of the story is done and a new one has to begin in order to grow his popularity, Gotta give him at least 1 successful defense before putting the belt on Batista. I see so much potential in DB vs Batista, just hope they don’t do it without giving Daniel Bryan his moment. I really would have liked to see what Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan could have done with a 1 on 1 match here, they have awesome matches and with a build from a DB Rumble win there’s no telling how great it could have been. Big Dave looks like he has shaken off the rust and is back on track, really high expectations from this one. Best Triple Threat is probably Angle/Rock/Taker from Unforgiven 2002 and I think this could be better than that. It all comes down to Daniel Bryan b/c if they continue to screw with him the show and match quality will crash and burn. If they do what’s right this could be something really special. Can’t wait. YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

Alternate Fantasy booking: HHH/NAO come down to attack DB. *glass breaks* Austin comes down on his RV, takes care of HHH/NAO allowing DB to get back into the match and ultimately win it.

 

Just over 4 hours away from show time and I’m starting to really get pumped. I say it every year but this could be the best WrestleMania ever. Culminating Daniel Bryan’s slow burn by going off the air with him surrounded by legends/good guys, on their shoulders with 75,000+ chanting YES! FOR THEIR NEEEEEEWWWWWW WWE World Heavyweight Champion would be a moment for the ages. It would solidify Daniel Bryan as main event, top level talent. In a few months he’ll go back to the chase and if they have a great storyline in place, we’ll all invest and have another great moment to build to. That’s what it’s all about, creating great moments and building to the next one. Maybe Daniel Bryan closing the show as Champion isn’t what Vince and everybody wants but it’s what the people want. I’m hoping tonight is one of those nights that validates why we invest our time and energy into this crazy world of wrestling and not just another slap in the face. Either way it’s gonna be 1 hell of a ride.
