Game of Thrones – Dumming it Down a Shade for S8
When LOST first came out, I was hooked immediately but nobody I knew was watching it so I couldn’t discuss it. After 6 episodes I couldn’t take it any more, sat down and wrote out every single character/storyline explanation for my Dad so he could follow along….and not be lost lol it worked, he caught up and was hooked till the end with me. Now with the final season of Game of Thrones upon us, he hasn’t been watching so I wanted to catch him up and let him experience the final season with the world bc it is going to be fcking awesome. This time I sat down on the comp and typed out, basically a dummed down version of Game of Thrones so he could watch along and have some semblance of who people are and what’s going on. I think I did a pretty good job, def not perfect but I decided I would share it with the world in case anyone else that hasn’t been watching wants to catch up and come along for the ride. I printed this out for my pops with a map of everything so he is good to go lol can’t wait for April 16!
CHILDREN OF THE FOREST
-Magical creatures who are the 1st inhabitants of Westeros
FIRST MEN
-Invaded Westeros and engaged in War with Children of the Forest
OTHERS AKA WHITE WALKERS
– The Children of the Forest captured one of the First Men and with their magic turned him into the first Other, The Night King. But The Night King/Others/White Walkers could not be controlled and turned on both the Children and Men. Something history calls ‘The Long Night’ occurred when the Others/WhiteWalkers, these magical humanoid type creatures that raise the dead to join their armies, invaded Westeros killing most of the Men and Children of the Forest.
After the First Men/Children of the Forest unite to defeat the Others, The Wall, a monumental fortification of ice and magic, is built to ensure the safety of everyone South of it. The Night’s Watch is created to guard The Wall and is eventually used as exile, entirely staffed by society’s unwanted men.
–Others/Whiter Walkers have not been seen in so long that they have been forgotten by most and the ones that do know about them don’t believe in it. But they are becoming more active, making more appearances and Winter is Coming.

Aerys Targaryen aka The Mad King(not in show):Killed by Jamie Lannister:Sat on iron throne, murdered Rickard & Brandon Stark when they came to protest the alleged kidnapping of Lyanna Stark by Rhaegar Targaryen. This led to Robert’s Rebellion: Robert Baratheon, Ned Stark, Jon Arryn and others to combine forces and end the Targaryen Dynasty. It was successful, Aerys was killed by Jamie Lannister, a member of the Kingsguard, when Aerys tried to burn the city of King’s Landing and everyone in it. The Targaryen Armies were defeated by Robert Baratheon and combined forces culminating in Robert Baratheon defeating Rhaegar Targaryen in combat on the battle field. King’s Landing was sacked and all Targaryens were killed except Viserys and Daenerys who were sent away and hidden. Robert Baratheon became King. The Lannisters became allies of the Baratheon/Stark/Arryns. Jon Arryn became Hand of the King but was recently murdered. Robert Baratheon is on his way to King’s Landing to ask Ned Stark to accept the position.
