THE STORY OF HOW GOD REVEALED HIMSELF TO ME
I have believed in God and accepted Jesus as my Messiah and Saviour my entire life. Through tragedy and triumph I have never wavered in my faith. But the ‘what if’ question always bothered me. As a kid I was very afraid of death. I thought about what it was like when I was sleeping. No thoughts, no consciousness, no emotion, just literally nothing. We don’t choose to sleep and then it immediately happens, we close our eyes and it eventually happens without our knowledge or control. Death is the same, we don’t choose death but it eventually comes to us. The thought that we could die and then there would just be nothing and we wouldn’t know it or have any kind of consciousness really bothered me. My parents and other spiritual leaders really helped me understand what Jesus did for us. He conquered sin and death so that we would not be lost to nothing but would rise again to a heavenly paradise. The truth about Heaven was comforting but at night I would find myself thinking about ‘what if there isn’t a God.’ I believed with all my heart but not being able to see and touch God allowed those doubts to remain.
As I got older and my understanding of God and Jesus increased I became stronger and wasn’t worried about death anymore. But the question of ‘what if’ still lingered in the back of my mind. I knew that at the end of our lives it was either God or nothing. I chose to believe in God and focus on Him rather than the possibility of nothing. The older I got and the more I learned the more certain I became about God being there at the end of our lives rather than nothing. But one day in 2007, God delivered a miracle that erased the ‘what if’ question from my brain. I never asked God for proof of his existence outside of the countless pieces of evidence in our lives everyday but for some reason he decided to bestow that gift upon me and I couldn’t be more grateful. There are far greater Men and Women in the world but He chose me. God for some reason decided to reveal himself to me so that there was no doubt about His existence. This is that story.
Sometimes when telling a story, you hear some people precede it by warning the listener it is a long story when it really isn’t that long. But this story really is long lol before I get into the details I have to set up a couple things that are crucial to why this particular moment was the moment God chose to reveal himself:
-First thing is that I smoke weed everyday. There are 2 kinds of weed smokers, people that smoke as much as they want without a care for when they are getting more and people that smoke a limited amount to make sure they have enough to get them to the next bag. I am in the 2nd group, I wanted to make sure that I could have a hoot every day so I would only specific amount each day. Sometimes more if I had a lot and sometimes less if I was days away from pay day.
-Second thing is that I have always loved valleys, esp the view from the top. Just outside of Brandon, Manitoba on the Trans-Canada Highway heading West there is a place called Grand Valley. It would barely be a ditch compared to the valleys in most places but I love it and it’s big enough to provide a great view as you head down into it. Living in Winnipeg and making many trips West to Saskatchewan we would always drive through Grand Valley and one trip I got the idea in my head to take a video from the front of the car driving down. Cell Phones were not the portable computers they are now so you couldn’t use them for video. I eventually bought a Digital Camera which had a video function that would be perfect for capturing the ride down the valley.
The plan was to hit record and put the camera at the very front of the windshield so you could only see the road and not the hood. But over the years, every time that we drive through the valley I forgot to put my camera at the front of the windshield. Every time. Either I would be talking with someone, be too baked, or too into the music. Every fn time. Drove me nuts lol this will be important later in the story.
The actual story starts in August 2007, I was living in Winnipeg and had just graduated from Massage College but had not heard anything back from the resumes I put out. I finally received a call back but it was from a clinic in Brandon, Manitoba which was 2 hours away. I guess I accidentally sent them a resume not realizing they weren’t in Winnipeg. The job sounded great but I initially declined bc I didn’t want to move to Brandon but the owner was very nice and let me know they had a busy clinic so I would be making money right away. I said I would think it over but more as a courtesy instead of actually considering the position. But when I thought about it, something was pushing me to go. It was only 2 hours away so I could drive in on weekends and chill with my friends. It was a busy clinic with multiple modalities under 1 roof so I would learn a lot and really make an impact on people’s lives. I still hadn’t received a call back from a clinic in Winnipeg so I didn’t have any other option at the moment. After considering all that, in a move that was so unlike me, I packed up all my stuff and moved to Brandon by myself to accept the position as a Massage Therapist.
The job was fantastic. Everyone was nice and I was busy right away. But it wasn’t a 100% full schedule right away so money was still a bit tight. I couldn’t afford to go into Winnipeg every week so I got into a cycle of going every 2 weeks. I had reliable dealers I could trust in Winnipeg so I figured I would stick with them to avoid the hassle and drama of finding someone reliable in Brandon. I would buy a bag of weed in Winnipeg to last me the two weeks in Brandon and then grab another one when I went in on payday. This brings us to November 2007. Grey Cup weekend was coming up and the Riders were playing the Blue Bombers, an epic first time matchup in the biggest game. Business had seen a dip around this time so I was in between pay cheques and short on cash and weed. I had to make a choice about where to watch the Grey Cup, in Winnipeg with my Brother and a lot of Bomber fans or in Regina with my Dad and a lot of Rider fans. I didn’t have enough weed left to take to the Grey Cup wherever I watched it and also have enough to get me through the next week until I got paid. Eventually I decided that win or lose, I wanted to be in Regina so I chose to watch with my Dad.
I chose to leave my weed at home bc I knew I wouldn’t need it. I knew I would be chillin with my Pops and that the excitement of the Riders in the Grey Cup would all the high I need lol this was one of the most important decisions of my life which I will explain later. But If I had decided I couldn’t go without weed that weekend then I would have ruined an incredible blessing God had planned for me. So I had 1 last hoot for the road and I headed to Regina. I had brought my camera to take videos of the celebration if the Riders won but also to finally get the video of driving down the valley. I had the camera on the arm rest but sure enough, I got too baked and got too into the music and completely forgot to take the video lol man I was pissed but I vowed to get it on the way back bc I would be stone cold sober for that trip. It had avoided me for so long but finally I was gonna get this video.
Got to Regina and had a great weekend spending time with my parents, everyone in the city just jacked for the game lol Sunday comes and the Riders defeat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, our biggest rival, to win the Grey Cup. Beyond legendary Grey Cup win. After it was over we went down town where Rider fans had taken over the streets in pure jubilation haha it was amazing chanting and singing with everyone, so many high fives n hugs incl cops, chuggin brewskis, waving flags, 1 of the best experiences of my life. I was so glad I chose to watch it in Regina but this experience would honestly pale in comparison of what was to come.
On Monday I headed back to Brandon full of excitement from the Riders epic win but it had been 3-4 days since my last hoot so like I said earlier I was stone cold sober. I didn’t think about not having weed once during the weekend, it was only on the drive back that I started to very much look forward to getting home and having a hootski. But I decided to look at the positive, that I was finally gonna get this video I had been chasing for so long. I was stone cold sober so there was no chance of being too baked and I turned down the music so there was no chance of it distracting me. Grand Valley is about 30km outside of Brandon so at the sign indicating it was 50km away I grabbed the camera and held it in my hand to make sure that I was ready to hit record and put it in place. This was it, there was nothing to stop me from getting the video this time. But the valley never came.
Every time that the highway went up looking like there was a big drop on the other side, there was only a little dip on the other side. This happened multiple times but we hadn’t reached the valley and I was starting to think I was getting close to Brandon so it had to be coming soon. But then I rounded a corner and saw the lights for Brandon and my jaw literally dropped and hung open the entire rest of the way home. I was more stunned than I have ever been in my life, there was no way I missed that valley. I could barely even focus on the road I was so shocked, there was nothing I could think of that would explain missing the valley. Some people have said it must have been one of the little dips I drove through on the way but it wasn’t. Grand Valley isn’t huge but it’s pretty damn big so you can’t just drive through it and not notice plus there is a bridge at the bottom so you’re not gonna miss that. I was waiting, and waiting, and awaiting but the valley never came.
When I got home I unloaded the car and then sat on the side of my bed going through every single minor detail of the last 50km of that drive. I pulled out the camera 50km away, turned down the music and was consciously watching every Km go by to watch for the Grand Valley. I thought about driving through all the dips. Did I miss it and mistake one for the Grand Valley? No, I remembered driving through every little dip focused as I was getting ready to hit record but never saw the big dip into the valley. Telling myself it was 1 of the little dips would be a lie. And bc I made the decision to leave the weed behind for the weekend, I couldn’t blame it on being baked. I was stone cold sober and focused on taking the video. Trying to think of anything to explain this, I checked to see if there were any construction projects that took the highway on another route but there wasn’t. There was no way around the valley but on this drive it never came.
The days after were dominated by thinking about this situation, going over the details over and over wondering how I could have possibly missed this valley but I couldn’t think of anything. I knew I didn’t miss it and there was no excuse available to write it off to being distracted. A few weeks later I was driving back from Winnipeg and still thinking about this when my thoughts turned to God. The only person/being I could think of that could possibly pull off removing a valley was God. Then I started to think, what if this is God revealing himself to me, proving that He exists through a great miracle. And right that moment I got the craziest energy rush all throughout my body that was something I had never come close to experiencing before or after. It kept getting more intense and just at the second I was about to pull over, it started to fade and I kept driving. That was it. That was the explanation, for some reason God chose to reveal himself to me and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that He is real. That God is waiting for us when we die. My life was never the same after that day.
No longer was the ‘what if’ question anywhere in my mind. I never asked for proof but God provided it. God revealed himself to me but did it in a way that I still had to have faith. Everyone that I tell this story to doesn’t believe me. They believe that I missed the valley somehow and am making something out of nothing. But I can’t ever accept that. I know myself, I remember the drive, I felt the energy when I realized God was responsible and I remember how I felt in the moments after when I saw the lights for Brandon and realized I never drove through the valley. God removed all the excuses for why I never hit the valley. There is no possible explanation for not driving through the valley so then we must look to the impossible. It is impossible for something as big as Grandy Valley just to be removed but who can make the impossible, possible but God. So either I could be a coward, go against what I know is true and lie to myself accepting that I just missed the valley. Or I could use the strength of the Holy Spirit to have faith in God Almighty like I have always professed I do. At the same time God was revealing himself to me, He was also testing my faith. I hope I passed bc going forward I absolutely accepted the truth and preached it to anyone interested in the story, that God had revealed himself to me.
This brings us to a part of the discussion that gets kind of complex but it’s necessary to discuss. Everyone one of us has our own reality, we are the actor and God is the director. We have free will so God can’t make us do what He wants, He can only try to influence us to honour God’s Will. In my reality, God removed the Grand Valley but in the reality of the people in the cars in front of and behind me, it was there just like normal. Removing the valley for me that one drive changes nothing for anyone else in the world. God can do that bc the action doesn’t affect anyone’s reality or free will. God didn’t force me to do anything, He just shortened my drive on this day. That is why it is so important for us to be connected to God throughout our lives, so we can put ourselves in position to receive the amazing blessings God has for us. But I can’t stress enough that we must put ourselves in a position to be blessed. If I had chosen to bring weed with me to Regina for the Grey Cup I would have been baked on my way back and wrote the whole thing off to being baked and distracted again. If I had chosen to go to Winnipeg to watch I wouldn’t have even driven close to the valley. It’s not always easy to follow His path but if we aren’t looking, He can’t show us the way.
I was a different man after that day. With no ‘what ifs’ or doubts to hold me back I became fierce in my faith. Since I now knew that God was real beyond a shadow of a doubt and that He chose to reveal himself to me, I started looking at how He wanted me to serve Him. I started doing more research into spiritual and worldly issues which led me to discovering significant spiritual and worldly truth. My life did not become sunshine and rainbows after this, I still experienced significant struggles and disappointments. Almost 3 years later, God delivered another unbelievable blessing to me but this time in the form of a Pro-Line sports ticket win worth $84,917.88 off my last $9. Winning this ticket allowed me to focus on going deep into research on spiritual and worldly truth and I uncovered a mountain of it. This blessing also put me in a position to be at home helping my family. My presence at home has helped my brother come back from his worst moments and helped my Mum and Dad deal with the effects of PTSD. It has enabled me to spend more time with my niece and nephew and make the Christmas/Birthdays special. My massage job has allowed me to help so many of God’s people have a better quality of life and I know that God is sending me the people He wants me to help. Massage is 1 of the ways I serve God so no matter where life takes me I will always use the healing skills God gave me to help His people.
After receiving a significant blessing like I did on more than 1 occasion, I truly believe God has something special planned for me. That all the pains, hardships, humiliations, embarrassments, disappointments were leading to this moment of greatness that would lift me up and change the rest of my life for the greater. I thought whatever it is would have happened by now but it not only hasn’t happened but 2020 was possibly the worst year if my life, all of which helped make 2020 a really tough year for me. I’ve done my best to keep myself in a position where God can lift me up to whatever platform is best to serve His Will. I thought it could be music. I thought it could be my creative skills in Hollywood. I thought it could be my creative skills in wrestling. I thought it could be building my own empire through His blessings and doing it myself. No matter the platform, I would use whatever influence I have to serve God’s Will and spread His word. Nothing has come to fruition yet and while it’s tough some days, I still believe it is going to happen. Some days I am afraid I have failed somewhere and am not in a position for Him to bless me again but in looking for signs, I believe that God is telling me I’m on the right path. I know that struggle builds strength and God needs me to be strong for the path He has ahead of me. I always think enough is enough and I am ready but only God knows when I really am. How can God expect me to survive walking in a valley of razor blades when I can’t even get through a valley of rocks. If satan and his illuminati are to be taken down, it will be like walking through a valley of razor blades to accomplish it. If we aren’t strong enough and fail when it counts, they will reign until the end of the Earth.
I read information about a prophecy saying the 2020’s were going to be the best period of human history before or after. It was supposedly from a hidden Christian text but that could not be verified. I thought that maybe God revealed himself to me so I could find and help fulfill that prophecy. But considering 2020 has been 1 of the worst years for me and the world, I think I’m gonna have to admit I was wrong about that one. Doesn’t mean things can’t still be great, just that the world I was dreaming of is probably not achievable. I will stand strong when I am right but I also must own it when I am wrong.
So that is the story of How God revealed himself to me and what I thought it meant for my life. I know that God is real, that Jesus is real and that he is our Messiah and Saviour. I also know that unfortunately satan is real. Angels and demons are real. Heaven is real. I know that this Earth is a battlefield for the war between Good and evil and that we are supposed to be God’s souljas. satan is the only true enemy. Our human brothers and sisters living as the worst versions of themselves connected to satan are God’s people that are being influenced by satan and his demons to be a vessel for evil. As Jesus said, “Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.” Knowing that it is real makes me want to serve God’s Will with my every beat and breath. Whether he has something great and special planned for my future or not, I hope that I am bringing Honour to Jesus’ sacrifice with my life and that I am in a position to receive His blessing again if he chooses to deliver it to me.
I won’t take it personally if you don’t believe this story is true, nobody does but I know it is the truth. Knowing that God is real makes me want to connect as many people as I can to Jesus. 1 of the pieces of spiritual truth I believe God wanted me to learn and preach was that Jesus conquered sin and death for all of us and that we will all go to Heaven no matter what we did on this Earth. We all will go to Heaven but some of us will have to literally go through hell to get there. hell is no walk in the park, it is an unimaginably terrible experience that will feel like an eternity. I want to keep as many people from going through hell to get to Heaven as I can. Also, for everything He went through, Jesus deserves to receive our thanks and praise with our free will so I will never stop trying to connect anyone I can to Jesus. If you are reading this and believe my story but haven’t been connected to Jesus, it is never too late. Pray, tell Jesus you accept Him as your Messiah and Saviour. That’s all it takes. Learn His teachings and live your life as Jesus did, treating others how you would want to be treated. Nobody comes to the Father but through Jesus and it is better to accept Him in this physical world rather than in the spiritual world but one way or the other, it will happen.
The more people that are in a position to receive His blessings, the more Good that will happen in this world. God can do such amazing things in each of our own realities if we are just in a position to receive them. He can’t change free will or affect other people’s realities, but you have no idea the wondrous blessings that God can still deliver to us. If sharing this story does 1 thing, I hope that it causes someone to start looking for God working in their life and how to be in a position to receive His blessing. My greatest hopes are that the influence goes beyond that and helps people accept that God is real and that we will all see a Heavenly Paradise when we die. It would have been easy for me to listen to everyone else and not believe God revealed himself to me but I knew in my heart that was what happened. Looking at my life since then makes me sure God did this for a reason. It definitely hasn’t been sunshine and rainbows but through struggle I have gained mountainous strength and have had an impact on those around me that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I have gained so much knowledge about spiritual and worldly truth that is just priceless. With that strength and knowledge I believe I am ready to do my part in taking this world back from satan and his illuminati on a much bigger platform. Hasn’t happened yet and I’m not sure that it will. But if it does I’ll be ready and in the mean time will do what I can in the position I’m in to make a positive impact on this world.
Don’t forget, God can’t deliver blessings to you if you aren’t in the position to receive them. Use Jesus as your guide to live your life and you will find that position. I guarantee it.
