YeahYeahYeah! – The Life and Legacy of Mr Brodie Lee

YeahYeahYeah! – The Life and Legacy of Mr Brodie Lee

It really bothers me to be sitting here writing a tribute piece to Jon Huber, he deserved so much better in life and wrestling. I became a fan immediately after seeing him on my screen but as the years went by I really related to Brodie Lee on a different level. I too was someone that thought I deserved to be contributing to life on the highest levels. But Brodie Lee had worked his way up from the bottom of the wrestling business and established himself as 1 of the best talents in wrestling so I was very eagerly anticipating the day he finally got his shot at contributing on the highest level. From pictures and stories we would hear, it also seemed like he was an even better guy outside the ring esp with his family which made me a bigger fan. I loved his social media presence with his ‘Larry’ and ‘It’s ____ you know what that means’ tweets. Brodie was in that he was a genuinely good guy. I remember the ‘Formerly Known As’ WWE Network series that did an episode on Brodie as Luke Harper and he was literally brought to tears talking about wanting to be as good of a Father as his Dad was. It all makes Brodie’s death hit very hard.

Brodie might not have made the mainstream impact Kobe Bryant did, he def had the potential to, but their deaths feel surreal in a very similar way. Both deaths were completely unexpected and cost the world 2 great fathers. It makes me feel that sad anger when I think about all that Brodie will miss out on with his sons and wife and what they will miss out on with Brodie gone. It’s not right. Brodie’s family will stay in my prayers. This caught me so off guard, I opened TheScore App to check NFL/NBA scores when I saw an headline saying RIP Jon Huber and my jaw dropped and hung open as I read the news. I kept looking at the picture of Brodie not able to comprehend what I was reading. There had been no information released publicly about Brodie being sick which is more evidence of how respected Brodie was considering in 2020 a secret of that magnitude didn’t get leaked. I was expecting Brodie to make his return on one of these New Years AEW shows to start a new feud and continue his rise to the top. Can’t believe this is real.

The last thing I want to be doing is writing a piece like this for Brodie Lee but as 1 of my favourite wrestlers, I def want to try to honour him as best I can. Unfortunately we don’t have a full documentary on his life so I will be going by the ‘Formerly Known As’ WWE Network piece and my own memories. I only discovered Brodie when he came to WWE so I didn’t see any of his independent wrestling career but he def had a great run. So as much as I don’t want to be doing this, let’s take a look and the career of Brodie Lee/Luke Harper/Huberboy 2.

Jon Huber was born in Rochester, New York and sadly cheered for the Toronto Maple Leafs lol that was another thing I always remembered about him, his fandom for the Leafs who have not won a Stanley Cup since 1967 😀 I hope eventually they finally win one for Brodie but it will be bittersweet knowing he isn’t here to celebrate it. Brodie’s wrestling career started at Samurai Martial Arts, a small building but enough to set up a ring, sell some tickets and get started. In the ‘Formerly Known As’ piece, Brodie talks about how the seats were mostly always full which is important for any wrestler nevermind a young one. Asses in seats, no matter how many seats there are, shows that you are at least reaching somebody, shows that somebody cares about what you are doing. That’s why I never make fun of attendance figures no matter how low, obviously we all, like Brodie, want to reach thousands but if it reaches even 1 person then it’s worth it.

From his own mouth, Jon Huber is described as goofy and fun loving and after hearing all of the memories those close to him have been sharing, that seems like the perfect way to sum up his personality. He started his career wrestling as Huberboy 2 lol this was when he was trying to wrestle like a Cruiserweight instead of big man. He wasn’t Huberboy 2 very long before switching to Brodie Lee. Without all the facial hair, Jon Huber looks like the actor Jason Lee who played the character Brodie in the movie Mallrats. But with the big beard and long hair, Jon Huber looks like Bruiser Brody. I’m sure a lot of people think the name comes from Brusier Brody(I did) but it is actually a tribute to Brodie from Mallrats, an awesome movie. Brodie really loved his hometown of Rochester and wanted to put in on the map instead of moving away from it. The wrestling business would force Brodie away from Rochester at times but as soon as he could he was moving right back there.

Brodie eventually took the next step in his career working for Upstate Pro Wrestling. In the ‘Formerly Known As’ piece we see Brodie go back to the building they wrestle out of and points out that his shows are still hanging in the rafters, I wonder if his shoes are still hanging there? It was at Upstate Pro Wrestling where Brodie really started to hone his craft and step his game up to the next level. Brodie won almost every championship they had including the World Title on 3 occasions. When you are an independent wrestler you wrestle wherever you can to get exposure and Brodie was making his mark all over at many different promotions like Squared Circle Wrestling, EVOLVE, Dragon Gate USA, Jersey All-Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honour and Chikara. It was Chikara that facilitated the change in the Brodie Lee character to become a roving, unhinged trucker type. Brodie talks about the change being scary to leave out of his comfort zone but it paid off bc that is when big things started happening. Brodie could regularly be found tearing down the house with guys like Eddie Kingston, Cesaro, Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Kyle O’Reilly, Rich Swann, Rhino and Jon Moxley just to name a few. Really makes me wish I was able to watch more independent wrestling.

By 2012, Brodie had established himself as a great talent ready for his shot at the big time but he would be in a for a rollercoaster of a few days. He injured his patella on the same day he found out his wife was pregnant with their first child. He was obviously ecstatic about being a father but was stressed about how he would provide for his growing family. The rollercoaster was about to go back up as he received the call he had been waiting for, WWE wanted to sign him. Brodie tells a funny story on ‘Formerly Known As’ about panicking after the message Johnny Ace leaves for him cuts off before he can get the number and then when he finally gets the number and phones Johnny Ace, the phone call gets cut off making for a tough few minutes lol but it all got worked out and Brodie was on his way to the new WWE developmental system NXT but he would not be there long. Brodie Lee would become Luke Harper and make his mark immediately as part of the Wyatt Family.

Harper made his NXT debut on Nov 7th introduced as the first son of the Wyatt Family and this is where he first came on my radar. I remember seeing him debut and immediately took an interest in him. I didn’t get to watch Bruiser Brody while he was alive but I was always fascinated with him and now we had a guy that looks just like him. At 6’5 275 he is absolute powerhouse but can also move like a cruiserweight, the rare combination of size and agility. Not only did Harper have the size but he had so much charisma, whenever he was on screen you had to be watching him to see what he would do next. Harper was a guy that would turn heads walking in an airport, restaurant or wherever, exactly what you want in a wrestler. His look was so perfect for the Wyatt Family and was a big factor in establishing the realism of the group. Right from the start, I knew that Harper was destined for greatness and was excited to watch his career. Soon the Wyatt Family would add another family member in Erick Rowan and together with Harper would become one of the toughest teams in wrestling.

Barely 6 months after first teaming together, Harper and Rowan would win the NXT Tag Team Titles defeating Neville/Bo Dallas. Harper had the look but these matches proved that he was a force to be reckoned with in the ring. During this time Harper would do his ‘YeahYeahYeah’ during matches and it was 1 of those little things that put the character over the top making it hard to tell if someone is playing a character or legitimately insane lol I honestly enjoyed every Harper match I ever watched, I loved his style of wrestling. His size made it easy to suspend disbelief during his matches and his agility meant he could keep up with the smaller guys really bringing the excitement out of matches. Harper had that perfect combination and not only knew how to use both but knew when a match needed more of one or the other. The Discus Clothesline was his finisher most of the time and man he could take a guys head off, Stan Hansen who knew Bruiser Brody well would no doubt approve. He would also use a version of the swinging side slam, a high impact move that looked awesome and he could hit it out of nowhere.

The potential of the Wyatt Family was not lost on anyone so they didn’t last long in NXT making their main roster debut on my birthday in July 2013 attacking Kane. Harper and Rowan didn’t miss a beat in WWE going on a 3 month undefeated streak before being defeated by Cody and Dustin Rhodes. The first big match in WWE for Harper was with Rowan vs Daniel Bryan and CM Punk at Survivor Series 2013 and they def delivered. The Wyatt Family was the perfect combination of talent, Bray Wyatt was a fantastic leader while Harper and Rowan were an awesome Tag Team that more than looked the part establishing them as 1 of the hottest things in wrestling. This would lead into a feud with The Shield and deliver the best matches of Harper’s career. The matches between The Wyatt Family and The Shield were fcking incredible and brought an excitement to wrestling that hadn’t been seen for a long time. Unfortunately The Shield would break up soon after the feud started so we only got a few months of it but man what a great few months those were. After watching Harper tear it down with Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, 3 of the best in the world I knew it was only a matter of time until Harper became a main event player. Harper got a taste of greatness working with the Undertaker while backing up Bray Wyatt in his feud with Taker for WrestleMania 31.

When Bray Wyatt turned his sights on John Cena, Harper and Rowan entered a feud with the Tag Team Champions The Usos who were backing John Cena. The two teams would have great matches at Money in the Bank and Battle Ground 2014 with the BattleGround 2 out of 3 Falls match being the best 2 on 2 Tag Match that Harper and Rowan had in WWE despite not winning the Titles. Awesome match. But a couple months later the Wyatt Family was broken up with Bray setting Harper and Rowan free to go their own way. There is no doubt that all 3 Wyatt family members have potential as singles wrestlers but I don’t think it was the right time to break up the Wyatt Family, there was so much more life left in that combination.

Harper would be off TV for a few months and return shortly before Survivor Series dropping an unconscious Dolph Ziggler at the feet of The Authority to get a spot on their Survivor Series team. It worked and Harper was given a spot on the team. As a reward Harper got a shot at the IC Title and did not disappoint defeating Dolph Ziggler to win the title, his first singles title in WWE. I was excited to see his run as IC Champ and thought he would deliver the kind of matches that established the IC Title as the workhorse belt. Next up Harper was a part of that awesome Team Cena vs Team Authority Survivor Series match eliminating his former partner Rowan but was unfortunately eliminated by Ziggler 2nd last after a great showing. I thought with all the momentum Harper was building there was no looking back but his IC Title run only lasted a month. Despite the short reign he went out on a high note having an awesome Ladder Match vs Ziggler at TLC 2014. Harper would stay involved with the IC Title scene leading up to his first WrestleMania match at WM 31 in the 7 way IC Title Ladder Match. He didn’t win but Harper delivered a memorable moment that will be replayed for generations when he power bombed Ambrose out of the ring through a Ladder on the outside. Brutal spot but it made them WrestleMania legends. It was cool to hear Jon Moxley on the Brodie Tribute Dynamite say that Brodie was one of the only guys he would trust to perform a move like that, shows that he was a special talent and man. That spot would lead to a feud between Harper and Ambrose including a damn good Chicago Street Fight at Extreme Rules 2015.

In May of 2015, Harper would reunite with Rowan but it was short lived after Rowan suffered an injury and had to be off for months. However in July 2015 Harper and Bray Wyatt would get the family back together after Harper helped Bray defeat Roman Reigns at Battle Ground 2015. This would lead to a really good match at SummerSlam 2015 vs Reigns and Ambrose. The next night, Braun Stroman would join the Wyatt Family and the 3 of them would face Reigns, Ambrose and Chris Jericho in another really good match at Night of Champions 2015. Harper and Bray would move on to a feud with The Brothers of Destruction Undertaker and Kane culminating in a Tag match at Survivor Series 2015, one of the biggest matches in Harper’s career. It’s a shame we never got to see a Harper/Taker feud when Harper was given the ball to run with like he was during his AEW run. I think Harper/Taker had potential to be one of the greatest matches of all time.

After Rowan returned from injury we saw one of the only matches to feature all 4 members of the Wyatt Family, a victory over The Dudley Boyz, Tommy Dreamer and Rhino in a Tables Match at TLC 2015. Harper would have a memorable performance at the 2016 Royal Rumble being eliminated by Brock Lesnar but then coming back into the ring later to help the Wyatt Family eliminate Lesnar as a group. I was disappointed when Harper and Bray Wyatt were defeated in a 2 on 1 Handicap Match vs Brock Lesnar at the Roadblock PPV bc I thought Harper could be a legitimately great 1 on 1 feud for Brock if they were willing to build up Harper and establish him as a force. His style of wrestling meshed well with Brock. Unfortunately another patella injury in his knee put him on the shelf for 5-6 months. That sucked but I thought it could be a blessing in disguise bc Harper would come back fresh with a boost in crowd support that usually comes when a wrestler returns from injury.

But the return from injury was not what his fans were hoping for. Harper returned at the TLC 2016 PPV helping Bray Wyatt defeat Randy Orton. Initially I was optimistic that he was going to be involved with a main player like Randy Orton but it would soon turn to disappointment as Harper was clearly a supporting player in the story featuring Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. Technically he was a Tag Team Champion with Bray and Orton but those 2 won the belts so Harper was only a champ via the Freebird Rule but he did make some defenses teaming with Randy so it wasn’t all bad. After Harper and Randy lost the belts, Bray turned on Harper ending their alliance. For the first time in his career, Harper turned babyface helping John Cena against Wyatt and Orton. But it did not lead to bigger things as Harper lost to Orton at Elimination Chamber 2017 in an awesome match but then wasn’t even in a main-card match at WrestleMania 33. Rowan returned around this time and actually started feuding with Harper leading to a match at Backlash 2017 that Harper would win. It was a good match but they were def better fighting together as a team.

After the match with Rowan, Harper pretty much inexplicably disappeared from WWE TV. I never understood how a guy like Harper could ever be sitting at home with no role on TV. If I owned a wrestling company and a Luke Harper walked into the my ring with the ability to tear the house down on any night with any opponent I would be poppin the champagne lol and we hadn’t even heard how good he could be on the mic yet either so there is no good reason he wasn’t being used. Harper would come off the sidelines to reunite with his former Tag Team partner Rowan as The Bludgeon Brothers. I wanted to see a main event singles run for Harper but I was def excited about The Bludgeon Brothers as I thought Harper and Rowan were an awesome team. Loved those big ass mallets they carried to the ring, they could do some serious damage and it looked like the Bludgeon Brothers weren’t afraid to use em lol they would go on a run squashing every team in their path putting them on a collision course with The Uso’s and The New Day. We would see one of Harper’s greatest moments happen at WrestleMania 34 when The Bludgeon Brothers defeated The Uso’s and The New Day to become the New SD! Tag Team Champions. Winning the Tag Team Titles on the biggest stage was definitely a huge accomplishment and it looked like things were back on track for Harper.

The Bludgeon Brothers successfully defended the Tag Team Titles against The Uso’s and The Good Brothers in good matches and were on a roll. The defense vs The Uso’s was at one of the Saudi Arabia PPVs and at 1 point in the match there is a big ‘Let’s Go Harper’ chant. Such a cool moment for Harper, you can see him notice the chant and get excited pointing at his ear to Rowan. But of course something bad to happen to ruin it when Erick Rowan tore his bicep which meant the Bludgeon Brothers had to drop the Tag Titles to the New Day on SD! Soon after that Harper underwent surgery on his wrist joining Rowan on the injury list. This was such a gut punch at the time. Loving the Bludgeon Brothers n getting excited about their push and then just like that it’s over. As disappointed as I was, I tried to think positive that they finally might give Harper a big push coming off his injury but it was even worse than last time. Harper wasn’t even given a return on TV, he wrestled his return match against Dominik Dijakovic at WrestleMania Axxess but once again delivered an awesome match. Dijikovic is one of those rare big guys like Harper that have the size and agility so they meshed well together. This had the potential to be a WrestleMania match under the right circumstances but here it was buried on Axxess.

The writing was on the wall for Harper, they were never going to use him to his full potential so unfortunately it was time to leave. Harper originally requested his release from the company in April 2019 but was denied which only added to his frustrations. They didn’t want to use him yet they didn’t want to let him go, made no sense. Harper would return to WWE TV for 1 more short run in Sept 2019 when he helped Rowan defeat Roman Reigns, a huge win for his former partner. There would be 1 more big match for Harper and Rowan as they faced Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns at Hell in a Cell 2019. Injuries derailed their longevity but Harper and Rowan had a great run and def established themselves as an all time great Tag Team. On Dec 8th Harper was finally granted his release from WWE but he had to wait for 90 days to be able to compete anywhere else. And thanks to Tony Khan and AEW, that anywhere else just got a whole lot more interesting.

In 2019 a new wrestling company emerged that would significantly change the landscape in wrestling. AEW was not your typical new wrestling company, they had all the pieces to compete with WWE one day. Tony Khan’s father is billionaire Shad Khan so the money is there. Then they were able to secure a TV deal for a weekly show Wednesdays on TNT instantly making them competition for WWE. AEW was a godsend for the wrestlers but now it gives wrestlers another option if WWE doesn’t work out. Everybody was predicting that Brodie Lee would be signing with AEW when his no-compete clause with WWE was done. AEW looked like the perfect place for Brodie, he would finally have the handcuffs off and be given a chance to take the ball and run with it. Well that is exactly what happened but the world Brodie would debut in was like nothing we have ever seen.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused the world to shut down and gatherings of people for sporting/entertainment events to stop. The future of wrestling was up in the air, nobody knew how bad this pandemic was gonna hit. Brodie couldn’t win, every time he had momentum, something would happen to ruin it. Brodie was supposed to debut for AEW in his hometown of Rochester to what would have been a seismic pop. Instead he would be debuting to an empty arena outside of a few wrestlers spread out around the ring. But Brodie still made a massive impact despite the pandemic revealing himself as The Exalted One of the Dark Order. Not many people were expecting this so it was a great twist and I think everyone was excited at the potential of Mr Brodie leading the Dark Order. It would end up being a great match becoming mutually beneficial for both, Mr Brodie gave the Dark Order much needed credibility and the Dark Order gave Mr Brodie a vehicle to drive his character. Those early vignettes of Mr Brodie as a Vince McMahon inspired leader were fn hilarious and did a good job making people forget the Harper character. I think they phased them out at the right time as well. With Mr Brodie as a leader, the Dark Order would always have a presence in the upper card/main event.

Mr Brodie would stay undefeated his first few months in AEW which would earn him a World Title shot vs Jon Moxley at the Double or Nothing PPV. Brodie/Mox, 2 old rivals would deliver a great match with Mr Brodie just coming up short but there was no doubt Mr Brodie would have his day with the World Title. Trying to grow the ranks of the Dark Order, Mr Brodie would successfully recruit Colt Cabana and Anna Jay. Significant bc Anna Jay is one of the rising, young talents in AEW and Colt Cabana bc it creates an interesting story. Wouldn’t have expected Colt to join the Dark Order so it was intriguing. We would see multiple 6/8/10 Man Tags feat Mr Brodie and the Dark Order and all were really good. Everything was rolling for the Dark order heading into the Aug 22nd edition of AEW Dynamite where Mr Brodie would challenge Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship. In the most shocking moment in AEW history, Mr Brodie Lee destroyed Cody Rhodes in about 4 min to win the TNT Championship. I was pumped but so shocked it went down like that, Cody got zero offense in. Cody had been so dominant that I expected a long, competitive match that Cody eventually wins so to see it go down like that was def exciting.

Winning the Title like that was such a brilliant call. As we see in the UFC, sometimes it isn’t your night and you get lit the fck up. Doesn’t mean you suck it just means you’re human. Matches like this really help establish the realism of the action and make it easy to suspend disbelief. This result didn’t hurt Cody but it significantly helped Mr Brodie. The Dark Order at Mr Brodie’s command attack Cody, Arn and Brandi after the match sending a message that they are THE dominant force in AEW. Great night. Mr Brodie would successfully defend the TNT Championship against Dustin Rhodes and Orange Cassidy in 2 really good matches. It was a good run that was just starting but unfortunately would only last 46 days. It sucked that his reign was ending so quick but little did we know that would be the absolute least of our worries. It is heartbreaking to say that Mr Brodie Lee’s last match was Oct 7th on AEW Dynamite in a Dog Collar Match vs Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship. Mr Brodie would lose but it was an awesome match. At least we can take some solace in the fact that his last match was one of his best. Mr Brodie’s last promo was so great and got me fired up for the Dog collar Match so I gotta post it,

“Cody! You can run on for a long time. But sooner or later, Brodie Lee is gonna cut you down!! And I am gonna take this dog collar Cody, I am gonna wrap it around your neck, I am gonna wrap it around that God forsaken tattoo, and you Cody, will have nowhere, nowhere to run!! And nowhere to hide! You Cody, you have 1 week to answer me. Are you a man, or are you a coward!?!?”

Ah man so fcking great. Mr Brodie crushed it on the mic as The Exalted One but this was prob his best promo. I still can’t believe that we will never hear him cut another promo or watch him wrestle another match. The details of what happened next are sketchy and it seems even the doctors weren’t quite sure what happened. Mr Brodie had trouble catching his breath after a workout to the point that he went to the hospital, they admitted him to the ICU and his condition never improved. All we know is that it was a non-COVID related lung issue that moved quickly to take Mr Brodie’s life. It was announced that Mr Brodie Lee had died on Dec 26th, 2020. Tributes poured in from all over the wrestling business, from those that knew Brodie and those that didn’t. The heartbreak across the pro wrestling family was palpable, nobody could believe that this was real. Everyone that knew Mr Brodie were all saying the same thing, that he was an amazing man that loved his family more than anything. Knowing that the world was losing a great father, great husband, great friend, great man, great wrestler made Mr Brodie’s death hard to take. Very tough to read posts from his wife, Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan and Big E along with so many others. I just think it’s so gross that we have to talk about Mr Brodie in a past tense, this isn’t right.

The official tributes started with WWE airing a graphic of Jon Huber/Luke Harper honouring his passing. Drew McIntyre opened his promo to start RAW with “Yeah Yeah Yeah” and “It’s Monday. You know what that means.” Alexa Bliss worked Mr Brodie’s ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah’ into her promo as well. Xavier Woods and Ricochet nailed the Discus Clothesline during their matches in tribute to Mr Brodie. The Young Bucks dedicated the episode of their YouTube show ‘Being The Elite’ to Mr Brodie Lee showing highlights of his time on BTE. Man I have been missing out bc I’ve never watched it but laughed hard thanks to Mr Brodie. The throwing of the papers is Gold and you can’t help but laugh when he breaks out the ‘you little biiiiitch.’ My favourite part that I still laugh at when I think about it, looking at John Silver and Alex Reynolds, “That’s bc you 2 PECKERHEADS keep fucking it up!” LOL fck that is funny. Then AEW dedicated the entire episode of the Dec 30th Dynamite to honouring Mr Brodie Lee with a night of matches and tributes. This was an absolutely incredible show right up there with RAW IS OWEN and RAW IS EDDIE. I hate those 10 bell salutes but it’s a great honour for any wrestler. I wish these shows did not have to exist but they really help with the grieving process. The Dark Order were involved in Tag matches all night with the Main Event chosen by Mr Brodie’s son -1. -1’s favourite wrestlers are Cody Rhodes/Orange Cassidy/10 so they teamed up to face Team Taz. The Dark Order made Mr Brodie proud winning every single match.

During the Hangman/Silver/Reynolds vs MJF/Santana/Ortiz match, MJF ripped off -1’s mask which caused -1 to smoke MJF with a kendo stick and he nailed him right between the eyes. You know Mr Brodie was beaming knowing his son hit his mark perfectly on live TV at 8 years old. Really impressed with Brodie Jr, he was showing a lot of strength although I’m sure the reality hasn’t quite set in yet. Rowan making a surprise appearance with a sign saying ‘Goodbye For Now My Brother. See you down the road” hit hard. Seeing Mr Brodie’s wife and son place his boots in the middle of the ring was tough. Great move to retire the current design of the TNT Championship and make Mr Brodie TNT Champion for life. The tears were coming the entire night but man that tribute video to close the show was emotional. Love and respect to AEW for pulling off such an amazing tribute to a great man. As surreal as it is, we must say goodbye to Jon Huber/Luke Harper/Brodie Lee/Huberboy 2.

When I think of Jon Huber/Brodie Lee/Luke Harper, I will immediately think of his family bc his love for his family was always something that stood out to me. Then I will think of the great wrestler. I’ll remember those fcking awesome Wyatt Family vs The Shield matches that will be shown and talked about as long as there is wrestling. I’ll remember the Bludgeon Brothers winning the Tag team Titles at WrestleMania. I’ll remember Mr Brodie Lee destroying Cody Rhodes to win the TNT Championship. I’ll remember all the great energy he brought out when he wrestled and be grateful that I got to experience it. I’ll also lament what could have been in wrestling bc even at 41 his best days were still ahead of him. I once had a line in 1 of my rap songs that said “if great is what you wanna be, look at your receipt it will say RIP.” What I meant by that is, people are always more willing to give you credit when you’re dead. It seems that Brodie’s death has made everyone realize what a special talent he was, not that people didn’t know he was great and appreciate him when he was alive but being gone just hammers home what we have lost. You think people are always gonna be around until they’re not.

So I guess this brings us to the end of this piece. As I said earlier, Mr Brodie’s family will continue to be in my prayers. I still shake my head at the fact I’m writing a tribute piece for Mr Brodie Lee. It’s not right. Jon Huber’s contributions to wrestling will stand on their own but everyone in the business and the fans will make sure he is never forgotten. He has 2 sons that will be welcomed with open arms into wrestling if that is the path they choose. So amazing to see AEW step up and get Brodie Jr involved with the shows, I’m sure it helps take his mind off what is going on. Pro wrestling really is a family and we take care of our own so Mr Brodie can rest easy knowing his family won’t be left behind.

I just want to finish by thanking Mr Brodie Lee for the years of entertainment he gave this wrestling fan. I was a fan of Mr Brodie from day 1 and he never let me down once in or out of the ring. He deserved better in wrestling but he still had a great career. It will unfortunately end unfinished but it won’t hurt his legacy. In 20 years when AEW is still around and flourishing, people will look back at how Mr Brodie Lee helped build the foundation. When the Dark Order members all go on to achieve great success, people will look back at how Mr Brodie helped put them in a position to succeed. When the greatest stables of all time are mentioned, people will talk about the Wyatt Family and what a crucial part of it Harper was. Thanks to Jon Huber, we all might love our families just a little bit more and make more of an effort to be good fathers. We might try to be that light in people’s lives like Mr Brodie was to so many.

It’s not right that we have to say goodbye so soon but we will definitely never forget you Mr Brodie. Much love and prayers of all good energy sent up for your family and friends. Goodbye and Godspeed brother.
