With the end of 2022 upon us, it’s been another great year for music so I decided to make another list of the Top songs of the year. There isn’t an exact science to this, the list would prob be different every time I did it but I’m happy with how it came out. Making the cuts was brutal bc I love all of these songs and I know I made some mistakes but it is what it is. I didn’t include any dance cover songs bc I wanted to leave the spots for as much original music as possible but if I had included them the list would be much different. Might be blasphemy to my generation but I think the 2020’s might be ready to pass the 90’s as the best decade for dance music bc there are already so many legendary bangers and they just keep comin. We are living in a great age of music, just gotta look and keep an open mind.
There were 1800+ songs on my yearly playlist and I narrowed that down to 390 on The Mountaintop of 2022 playlist which can be found here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/57EcEMfnS9k67qNtuPBvoc?si=8aa4efad5dea4401
Then I somehow narrowed that down to 222 songs for the Top 222 of 2022 which can be found here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3hRVRSBNeyqLiXgBrqMaO3?si=28141e3ff81a4447
There were some great albums dropped this year, I’m gonna highlight them at the end of the list if anyone is interested in that.

HIXTAPE: VOL 2 – HARDY – Love these HIXTAPE albums, both have produced multiple bangers and add some nice flavour to country music. BANGERS: WD40-4WD, I Smoke Weed, Goin Nowhere
Humble Quest – Maren Morris – Might be the album of the year, she has been 1 of my fav singers for a long time and she never lets me down. Amazing album. BANGERS: Circles Around This Town, Humble Quest, Background Music, Detour, Good Friends
My Jesus – Anne Wilson – Prob album of the year, I listened to it everyday for the first couple months after release and it always starts my Sunday listening. ‘That’s What We Need’ is my Song of the Year and what a glorious song it is. God gave her 1 of the most amazing voices and it is so joyful to hear her use it to give Jesus the thanks and praise that he has earned and deserved. Love her. BANGERS: Scatter, My Jesus, Devil, Sunday Sermons, Hey Girl, God Thing, That’s What We Need
Palomino – Miranda Lambert – Awesome album that is a great mix of the classic country sound with the new country sound. She has had albums with bigger songs but top to bottom this might be her best. Def in the convo for album of the year. BANGERS: Actin Up, In His Arms, Tourist, Strange, Wandering Spirit, I’ll Be Lovin You, That’s What Makes The Jukebox Play, Pursuit of Happiness
Where We Started – Thomas Rhett – Man the last 2 years have been great for Thomas Rhett delivering 2 banger albums back to back. So many great tracks on this one it’s hard to pick a fav. Can’t wait to see him live in Feb. BANGERS: Church Boots, Bass Pro Hat, Angels, Half of Me, Paradise, Death Row, Simple As A Song, Where We Started
Twelve Carat Toothache – Post Malone – Love the style/sound of Post Malone’s music and this album was great, delivering multiple tracks to repeat over the year. BANGERS: Wrapped Around Your Finger, I Like You, Insane, Wasting Angels, Waiting For A Miracle
Vinyl Revival – Worth The Wait- What a great debut album for the Mother/Daughters team of Worth The Wait. Loved them on The Voice and was excited for new music which they def delivered with this album. BANGERS: Vinyl Revival, God Made Her A Fighter, Why Didn’t I, Right Side of Wrong, Never Know
ELVIS Soundtrack – The movie itself was awesome but the soundtrack was just as good. Love when that happens. BANGERS: Vegas, Tupelo Shuffle, I Got A Feeling In My Body, Can’t Help Falling In Love
Give or Take – Giveon – Tough to follow a smash song like Heartbreak Anniversary but this album is amazing, esp the second half just packed with hits. BANGERS: For Tonight, Lost Me, Lie Again, Another Heartbreak, Remind Me
No Defeat – Konata Small – Short album but it’s good top to bottom. BANGERS: All In
Formentara – Metric – ‘Gimmie Sympathy’ is 1 of my fav songs of the 2000’s so I was happy to see they were releasing new music. Love this short album but there aren’t really any Bangers on it that you would look to play on repeat. It’s a great playlist album in that when the songs come up when you’re listening to your playlist, they hit right.
Walk Me Home… – Benson Boone – What a fn voice he has. Only discovered Benson Boone this year but I’m so glad I did bc he delivered some of my fav songs of the year. BANGERS: In The Stars, Nights Like These, Work of Art
Renaissance – Beyonce – Been awhile since I have loved a Beyonce album, haven’t been a fan of most of her music since the early 2000s but I was def feeling this one. I’m more of a fan of the Destinys Child style of music, and this album isn’t that but it’s still great. BANGERS: Break My Soul, Thique, Cuff It, Energy
Growin Up – Luke Combs – Man I need to see him live, such a great voice and man he delivers awesome music. Love this album top to bottom and I have Going, Going, Gone as a Top 10 song this year. BANGERS: Doin This, The Kind of Love We Make, Used To Wish I Was, Better Back When, Tomorrow Me, Ain’t Far From It, Going Going Gone
Gifted – Koffee – Oh man I am so thankful that I found her music bc I didn’t realize how much I needed that Reggae vibe in my life. Incredible album that will hopefully be the start of bringing Reggae back into the mainstream. Only found her bc someone used her song Gifted in an instagram post and I liked it so decided to check out the rest of her music and was blown away. West Indies was 1 of my songs of the summer. BANGERS: Gifted, Lonely, West Indies, Lockdown
Spiritual Machines II – Our Lady Peace – Def more of a playlist album, no Bangers on this one and it might not appeal to everyone but Our Lady Peace was my first concert so they have a special place in my music heart. Can’t lie and say I don’t wish there was a few songs like Clumsy or Thief on here but it’s also nice to mix up the styles every once n awhile and this album def does that.
Cross Country – BRELAND – 1 of the best voices in country music right now. Been a big fan of his singles so I was pumped to have an entire album and man does he crush it. Great top to bottom with multiple songs to repeat. BANGERS: Here For It, Praise The Lord, Told You I could Drink, For What It’s Worth, Happy Song, Throw It Back, Cross Country, Alone At The Ranch
Legend – John Legend – Wow man what an awesome album and it’s nice and long. An hour and 20 min of top shelf quality that makes it hard to pick a favourite. 1 of the best top to bottom R&B albums I’ve heard in a long time. BANGERS: Rounds, Strawberry Blush, Splash, Love, Wonder Woman, Honey, I Want You To Know, Stardust
Brighter Days – Blessing Offer – Watched him crush it on The Voice and now I get to watch him use his unreal talents to give thanks and praise to Jesus. Great short album that makes it easier to hit that repeat button. BANGERS: Tin Roof, Little Bird, Brighter Days
Get Out of the Way of Your Own Heart – Chris Renzema – 1 of the best voices in the world making music for Jesus and delivering unbelievably great songs makes my soul happy. Just incredible to feel the Godly energy in his voice and music. This album was amazing. BANGERS: Hope or Nostalgia, Leave A Light On, Heart Soul Blood Bone, Blessed Are Those Who Follow You, Hard Drugs
The Hardest Part – Noah Cyrus – Did not expect this album to hit me like it did man the energy just went right to my soul. Absolutely love it top to bottom but the Bangers stand out big time. BANGERS: Hardest Part, I Just Want A Lover, I Burned LA Down, Loretta’s Song
Subject To Change – Kelsea Ballerini – She has become 1 of my fav artists and it’s crazy to see the quality she keeps delivering with back to back great albums. Another one with so many good songs it’s hard to pick a fav. BANGERS: Subject To Change, If You Go Down, I Guess They Call It Fallin, Walk in the Park, Heartfirst, You’re Drunk Go Home
HONOURABLE MENTION- Always In Between – Jess Glynne – This album is actually from 2018 but my God it’s incredible I dont understand how it wasn’t a bigger deal. I loved some of her previous singles and randomly heard one but realized I hadn’t heard a new one in awhile. Checked out this album and was blown away by the quality. Hope she releases new music in 2023. BANGERS: Never Let Me Go, No One, Thursday, 123, Broken, Rollin, So Real, Nevermind, One Touch
Emails I Can’t Send – Sabrina Carpenter – Great Canadian singer crushed it with this album. Love her style and was a fan of previous singles so to get this album with so much quality on it def elevates her to another level. BANGERS: Vicious, Already Over, How Many Things, Fast Times, Skinny Dipping
Charlie – Charlie Puth – Really good album that def has songs to repeat with the Light Switch Tiesto remix being one of the best dance bangers of the year. BANGERS: Light Switch, Marks On My Neck, I Don’t Think That I Like Her
Still – Steven Curtis Chapman – His 1996 single Lord of the Dance was my fav Christian song for a long time so it was def a treat to find this new album. Really good top to bottom, def a reason he is a legend in Christian music. BANGERS – I’m Alive, Running After You, Trying To Get Back Home
Dancin in the Country – Tyler Hubbard – So exciting to have half of 1 of the biggest acts of the last 10 years start making music for Jesus. Awesome short album. Happy I got to hear the big singles during his Grey Cup performance. BANGERS – Dancin in the Country, I’m The Only One, 5 foot 9
Heaux Tales, Mo Tales – Jazmine Sullivan – Decided to check out her music after seeing her as a mentor on The Voice and I’m glad I did bc she is great. Really good album top to bottom. BANGERS: Pick Up Your Feelings, Selfish
Midnights – Taylor Swift – Gotta admit I was disappointed in this album. For me it was strictly a playlist album, no songs on it that I wanted to repeat. It was good but not great and it seems her style is moving further and further away from what I like from her. Which is fine, she has to make the music that means something to her and this style is clearly where she feels comfortable but it is not my taste at all.
The Loneliest Time – Carly Rae Jepson – Always rooting for her being Canadian and a great singer that makes fun songs. No doubt an awesome playlist album but the bangers def stand out esp Go Find Yourself or Whatever. BANGERS: Joshua Tree, Beach House, Go Find Yourself or Whatever
Takin It Back – Meghan Trainor – Man did she crush this album. Top to bottom great with Rainbow a Top 5 song of the year. Made You Look is def a big hit for her, makes me happy to see her get the success she deserves. BANGERS: Made You Look, Takin It Back, Rainbow, Drama Queen
What I Get For Loving You – Seaforth – 1 of my fav bands I’ve discovered in the last few years. Great short album top to bottom with 2 smash hits. BANGERS: Breakups, Good Beer
Russell Dickerson – Russell Dickerson – Such a great feeling when an artist that you already have high expectations for over-delivers. Def 1 of my fav voices in country, it’s almost like he couldn’t sing a bad song and he proves it with this album. Album of the Year was already a murderer’s row before he dropped this banger album I don’t now how you choose lol even the remix of I Remember is 1 of the best dance bangers of the year. BANGERS: Every single song
Tulip Drive – Jimmie Allen – Awesome album from a great singer man he has really put himself on the map with the consistent high quality he delivers. In the pack of albums that has so many great songs it’s hard to choose a fav. BANGERS: Be Alright, What I’m Talkin Bout, Down Home, Pesos, Love in the Living Room, Get You A Girl, Everytime I Say Amen
Hellraisers Part 3 – Cheat Codes – They are def on the mountaintop of dance music right now man Cheat Codes might as well be a banger factory. Top to bottom top quality. BANGERS: Tell Me You Love Me, Running
Different Man- Kane Brown – Having just seen him live, I can confirm that Kane Brown is gonna challenge for the King of Country title soon. I try not to put too many songs from 1 artist on my Top songs of the year playlists but Kane Brown forces your hand putting out banger after banger. Awesome album and even better concert, check him out if you get the chance. BANGERS: Different Man, Like I Love Country Music, Grand, Thank God, Leave You Alone, Riot, One Mississippi, Whiskey Sour,
Last Birthday – Valley – saw them perform before the Grey Cup and I liked the song so I checked that out and they have quickly become 1 of my fav bands. Their entire catalogue is awesome with this short album no exception. Late to the party but happy I’m here and ready for new music whenever it comes. BANGERS: Oh shit….are we in love, Ain’t My Girl, Like 1999
And that brings the 2022 Music year to a close. Not the Legend that 2021 was but def on the level just below. There were great singles and albums, all genres came with bangers. Discovered the ‘Covertronica’ genre of dance music this year and as my playlist shows, I’m kinda obsessed lol but it makes old songs new again with the high energy of dance music. I fn love it hope there is a tidal wave of new tracks waiting for me next year. With the epic levels of the last 2 years, can’t wait to hear what 2023 has in store. LFG! Much love and God bless to everyone that feeds their soul with as much music as they can possibly listen to. We are def a tribe 😎
