RIP WWE AND THE STATE OF MAINSTREAM WRESTLING

“Vince McMahon is def pissing me off as much as Walter White did towards the end of Breaking Bad lol man I can’t believe we are actually watching the fall of WWE bc make no mistake about it, that’s what is happening right now. There is no way WWE is going to survive a sale. A huge reason WWE gets the loyalty from fans they do is bc of the McMahon name, bc of the nature of pro wrestling and how much you have to invest to love it, they feel like family. Once a McMahon is no longer the owner of WWE that loyalty is gone. As soon as the new WWE starts doing things fans don’t like they will walk away. I think there are a few exceptions not named McMahon that fans would accept to run it but outside of HHH I can’t see a new owner handing the reigns to a wrestling person that doesn’t have the schooling/work experience they want. COMCAST would prob be the best chance for WWE to survive bc they should know wrestling and have more faith in the wrestling people would succeed running it. DISNEY would not be a good match bc I just can’t see them ever getting fully behind the product and not messing with it. NETFLIX is the wildcard bc I could actually see WWE thriving on that platform but like with DISNEY, I doubt NETFLIX would ever get behind it 100% to make it successful long term. And that brings us to the people that will just not fuck off, the fcking Saudi government….”

Well as I was writing this, the news just broke that the deal is done and Vince McMahon is selling WWE to the Saudi Scumbag Fun but instead of deleting what I had written I’ll leave it in bold above so people can see what I was thinking about the sale. I am absolutely stunned bc this is the fucking end of WWE. It’s over. I’ll never watch another show or attend another event and I wouldn’t care if Bret Hart found the fountain of youth and came back to wrestle. I don’t see how any fan that has any morals or respect for themselves could ever watch WWE programming again. Art becomes life as Vince McMahon just injected his company with a lethal dose of poison and it won’t be long before the company is dead. Not like it matters to these fucking parasites, their corrupt asses have infinite money and they see destroying good things in the world as sport so they will love watching WWE crumble. Vince could not handle seeing WWE succeed without him so he decided to use his nuke and sell to the 1 group that would let him stay in power like what a pathetic bastard. Now they will take the company private so there are no shareholders to answer to and unless he is convicted of a crime, Vince can do what he wants to women he employs. What an absolutely disgusting turn of events. Thank God I bought so many WWE DVDS and still have all of them bc that’s all that will be left soon.

I’m struggling to process the fact that I will never watch new WWE content ever again man I have watched WWE since my Dad sat me on his lap as a baby. I was obsessed with it as a kid and teenager. It became a passion as an adult despite the ups and lots of downs the last 20 years since WCW closed. I decided that I would never watch a Saudi show even before the 1st one but that stance was cemented after Jamal Khashoggi was brutally murdered by those piss yellow cowards. And now these scumbags actually own WWE and all the years of content in the video library like what the fuck kind of trash timeline are we living in!? So much of my life growing up to now is tied to wrestling and specifically WWE so this is starting to hurt a little as it sinks in. My prayers go out to everyone in the company from wrestlers like Sami Zayn who is on the best run of his career to office workers who now have a choice of leaving a good job with good guaranteed money or work for and enable some of the worst human filth the world has ever seen. I don’t envy that decision bc I know most have families to think about so there will def be some tough days ahead either way.

I honestly never thought Vince would ever sell WWE bc it was a family company and his family was more than ready to run the company and take it into the future. I guess I really don’t understand Ego, especially inflated ones like Vince’s bc I can’t imagine doing this instead of handing it over to your family. Not like Vince is gonna do anything with the Billions they will pay him for the company other than pay women he may or may not have sexually assaulted to be quiet or just flat out start paying them money they can’t refuse to have sex with him. He already had enough money for that so this is just a straight up temper tantrum from a little boy that would rather break his toys than watch other kids play with them. The guy is a disgusting person and this deal will only enable that part of him even more. Wow man it’s really over, I can’t believe I will never watch WWE again. Feels like a lost a life long friend.

I originally planned to talk about AEW and address some of the criticisms I’ve had lately but man the news about WWE being sold just knocked the wind out of me. All I can really think about right now is how grateful I am that AEW is around bc fuck what would it be like if there was no AEW…pro wrestling would be on the brink of death. AEW has officially become the most important company in pro wrestling and will be the deciding factor in whether pro wrestling stays in the mainstream. Hopefully the fans that stop watching WWE will turn to AEW and give them that solid 1.5 million viewer base WWE enjoys right now. Sucks sitting on my idea that would give pro wrestling a foundation for the future, I think I could def help AEW but for now I will just list some things I think AEW could do to evolve the product and draw in new viewers:

• Omega/Young Buck and CM Punk need to fuck off with this immature bullshit and do what’s best for the business that has given them all so much. Everyone outside of wrestling hates us so much that it makes it so much worse when 4 of our best won’t even work together. How can pro wrestling survive when 4 of our best fighters are too busy fighting each other. AEW and Pro Wrestling need these guys more than ever and the best case scenario is for everyone to do a big storyline based off what happened but slowly start to work kayfabe stuff in there which leads to my next point.
• AEW needs a 4th wall – Once you walk through that curtain, you’re in a different world than our own where anything is possible and back stage is also part of it. That’s what makes wrestling work but you severely limit the stories you can tell and the effectiveness of them by not having a 4th wall. I never understood fans that had the “why do the wrestlers act like the camera isn’t there” complaint bc we’re not watching real life, we’re watching pro wrestling so who fcking cares as long as the story is good. The promos constantly referencing real life make it impossible for characters to exist in AEW and characters are what brought wrestling into the mainstream. Shoot comments are good when used right but it needs to be strategic.
• Titles make stars and AEW needs stars so enough of the never ending title reigns. Look at the UFC, does every legend have a long title reign? Fuck no but they had great fights and that’s what matters. So if someone loses a title in a great match, they don’t actually lose. If someone wins a title but only has a short reign, as long as the matches are great it makes them a bigger star. It does need to be strategic bc there do need to be some longer reigns to keep credibility with the title but at least the longer reigns will mean something again if we start seeing some shorter ones mixed in.
• With WWE owned by saudi now, no reason to hold back on content and AEW needs more TV hours considering the roster they have so hopefully they can get another show on TV. Monday Nights are fair game now.
• Some of their characters need to evolve, an example would be Jon Moxley. I think he needs to kill the roving lunatic he portrays in his promos and evolve to kind of a Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry or Val Kilmer Doc Holliday type of character. At this point Mox has been WWE Champion and AEW Champion and is recognized as 1 of the marquee talents in pro wrestling that has proved himself in everything from wrestling matches to death matches. Don’t think the unhinged lunatic thing works anymore. I think his character should be playing it cool bc at this point, nobody can question his accomplishments or his toughness and if they do he will just kick their ass and prove it. That’s what Dirty Harry/Doc Holliday were, they didn’t have to intimidate bc they knew that when it came time, they would win. I think there is a lot of potential for both heel and babyface story with that change to his character and I think that type of character is what could make him a bigger star. And he needs to beat the fn piss out of Bryan Danielson for actually slapping his face not even 24 hours after getting screwed out of his AEW World Title.

Another example is Daniel Garcia, if he is gonna be a sports entertainer then he needs to go all in with it. He needs a sports entertainment style catchphrase and he needs a sports entertainment signature move like the People’s Elbow or The Worm lol for real tho the fans would hate it at first but if it got over then he has something already built in for a babyface run

I’ll stop there bc I don’t want to just highlight the bad so here is what I’ve been loving in AEW:

• Jamie Hayter as Women’s Champion baby it’s about time. Love that they made it work for the trio to stay together and support Jamie bc they work so well together and we have seen teams turn on eachother 1000x. When was the last time a stable rotated contenders for a title without infighting? If they can get more TV time, you know Hayter will be more than game to put in bangers as Champ LFG
• The Acclaimed Have Arrived!! Scissor me Daddy Ass!! Lol man are they on fire right now both in and out of the ring. Crazy to say that this Daddy Ass run will actually add to Billy Gunn’s legacy haha Still blows me away that the Acclaimed were not a team before AEW, def Tony Khans biggest win for creating stars so far. Love the energy they bring to the show when they are on TV and the matches are so enjoyable. Really impressive that they have entered scissoring into wrestling lore lol Need a Young Bucks match (with the Champs retaining) bc those Bucks nearfalls will be fn intense.
• Jade Cargill is awesome and will make a star out of whoever beats her to break her streak and win the Title. That’s a pretty big accomplishment for someone as new to the business as her. A pretender would flounder after that happens but I know Jade is a contender and will thrive after getting the first loss off her back. Gave Skye Blue the best match of her career at Battle of the Belts V and man what an awesome finish. Jade is a fn star.
• FTR could walk into a locker room in the 80’s and be accepted and respected, that’s how fucking great they have become. Wish they would have won the AEW Tag Titles while they held all the other belts bc that would have been a Road Warriors level accomplishment and we don’t get a shot at that very often anymore.
• Ricky Starks is ready to level up. Hobbs is someone that would benefit from a title run even if it was short. Wardlow just needs to evolve from squashes to great matches and he will be on fire again. Darby Allin literally holds nothing back and leaves it all in the ring every time which makes it easy to enjoy his matches, def a top level AEW star. Lethal/Satnam/Jarrett/Sonjay are a good heel group and perfect for the Trios division. Orange Cassidy realizing his potential is great to see. Willow Nightengale is awesome and will be a force in AEW the next few years. Toni Storm getting to show why she should be considered one of the top female names in the industry.

I’ll stop there, still can’t believe this is real and that WWE is, for everything that matters, dead. Absolutely stunned that this is how it all ends. If I ever have kids, there will be no WWE for them to watch. This may seem like hyperbole or being dramatic but man for me WWE is dead and I would be beyond shocked if they are still in business 5 years from now. The saudi scumbags have infinite money to keep it running but they want to be popular, if WWE ends up with no fans then they will just kill the company and bury the memories as one last fuck you to wrestling fans. All this so a 77 year old man can satisfy his pathetically inflated ego by staying in power and booking a show that a significant amount of people don’t want to watch. At the end of Breaking Bad(SPOILERS) the entire empire falls apart thanks to Walt and now in real life, we are going to have to watch the WWE empire fall apart thanks to Vince. What a sad fn day man I don’t know what else to say at this point. If/When the sale is official, I will absolutely be doing a big retrospective piece on the WWF/WWE bc as I said, Pro Wrestling and WWE have been a part of my whole life so something as significant as WWE dying requires a proper goodbye. Praying for my fellow wrestling fans that are feeling the same hurt I am right now, WWE was a great escape from the shitty things we deal with in real life so this is gonna hit some people very hard. Can’t believe it’s actually happening.
