Rey = Luke’s daughter clues –
– Grew up on a desert planet away from real family, great pilot
– as soon as she arrives at Resistance base, R2 wakes up. I know JJ gave an explanation but he isn’t gonna come out and spoil the big mystery by saying, he woke up because Rey is Luke’s daughter.
– The lightsaber that belonged to Anakin then to his Son Luke calls to Rey
– observes the death of someone she cares about, has same reaction as Luke
My own theory about where the story is heading:
When Rey is in the forest at the end, at the same time Kylo Ren ignites his lightbsaber I thought I heard a female voice say “Rey.” That leads me
to believe that the Leader Snoke we saw is just a pawn, the female voice was Rey’s Grandmother who is a Dark Queen of the Sith. Her daughter was Good and never embraced the Dark Side, she became a Jedi trained by Luke Skywalker and even fell in love with him producing an offspring. Luke and Rey’s Mom were rebuilding the Jedi Order which would have devastating consequences for the Rebirth of the Sith. So she devised a plan to turn Luke’s prized student to the Dark Side and fulfill the Skywalker legacy of Darth Vader, his nephew Ben Solo. She succeeded, he became Kylo Ren and slaughtered all of the remaining Jedi saving Luke for last. She hired a Bounty Hunter, maybe Benicio Del Toro, to kill her daughter and child. He succeeded in killing her Mom but Rey survived. Luke got there too late and had to watch his wife die. He knew that the Grandmother would hunt them until death and that Rey was the Last Hope so he decided to do what they did after Anakin turned. He took Rey to a place she would not be detected, to build strength through the same struggle he endured. He needed a place that would make her tough, she needed to fight to survive. In a way, he tossed her into a pit and said ok try and get out, I’ll be waiting at the top. Only through the climb could she build enough strength to bring balance to the Force as a Jedi. The fact that R2 woke up as soon as Rey arrived at the resistance base would make sense for Luke’s plan, R2 was instructed to wait until Rey arrived. Luke could not go and fight the First Order because he had to be around if Rey was able to climb out of the pit. And if he stayed he would have surely turned to anger and hate going after the people responsible for the death of what I assume was his only Love. His fight vs the First Order would start the moment Rey showed up. And not only did she show up but she brought Anakin’s fn lightsaber, the one last seen in the hand attached to the arm Vader cut off in Cloud City.
I think once they realize Rey is alive they will try to capture her as a bride for Kylo Ren, they want an heir of pure Skywalker blood turning Kylo Ren into a Commodus from Gladiator type of villain. The last part of his training Snoke talked about is being introduced to the Grandmother and becoming a Sith. Once completed, Darth Ren will be born. The reveal of Rey’s parentage will do a number on her. Her mother is connected to the Dark Side but was Good and her father is a Jedi the embodiment of Good yet did a bad thing in her mind and abandoned her to survive on her own. I think she will be occupying the middle ground between Good and Evil for most of the movies, trying to figure out where she belongs. In the end she will choose Good and become a Jedi Master, successfully setting up a new Jedi Order that will ensure peace to the Galaxy for thousands of years.
Now if I was wrong and there was no voice saying “Rey” this is all moot haha but it’s def fun to explore the different theories and come up with your own. That’s really all you can ask of a movie, if it inspires you then it works. I will have a full review up after my 4th viewing which will be in the big IMAX screen. Saw it in DBox and it was awesome so IMAX will be intense, can’t wait! Hope everyone has seen it and enjoyed it but if not what are you waiting for haha Cheers!
